Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program created by Adobe Systems, most people know it as PS or just Photoshop. Many excellent web-based artists all over the internet are users of it. This guide, though brief, will attempt to answer the questions you may have about this program.

Where do I download Photoshop?

Unfortunately, Photoshop costs quite a bit of money, but if you've got $649.00 USD to spend, and nothing else to spend it on, then by all means you can find it here. Photoshop is available for both Mac and Windows.

How do I use Photoshop?

Obviously, none of us here at Team Blaze can sit here and explain every little detail to you. So, I suggest browsing around looking for tutorials. Just looking around on DeviantART for "Photoshop tutorials" can actually find you some very excellent guides to making incredible graphics.

Where do I get brushes and fonts to use on Photoshop?

Ah, yes, brushes. Brushes, though common in a lot of places, can usually be found on DeviantART. Just search "Photoshop Brushes" in the bar, and you'll be brought to a page full of results. As for fonts, DaFont is the place to go.

I have the brushes/fonts, now how do I use them?

Okay, this is what you will need to do. First, put fonts in folders with other fonts, and brushes with other brushes, to keep track of them. Go into photoshop, select the brush tool, and somewhere near the top of your screen you'll see a circle with an arrow pointing right inside it. Click that and scroll to the bottom where you'll find all of your brushes. To see your fonts use the text tool, then click the window option on the NavBar, and select Character on the scrolldown menu. A menu will pop up showing a scroll box with your current font in it. Click that box and you can see all the current fonts you have.

I have a question/problem, where can I go?

Well, the simple solution is to go to Adobe's website and look around their support topics, FAQs, etc., to see if it's answered there. If not, you can always contact us here at Team Blaze!

Any Last Advice?

The advice is simple: keep trying. Your graphics may look really bad at first, but so what? Most of ours did. Giving up doesn't help! Find tutorials, get people with the program to help, etc. This program may seem tough at first, but with practice, you will make excellent art in no time.
